For several years, Kela has been an official partner of Helsinki Pride, and every year we participate in various regional Pride parades. Kela’s employees have established a Rainbow Alliance, which operates within Kela as a community that is open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community and all Kela employees interested in promoting equity. The Alliance has over 200 members from all corners of Finland. Allies are also welcome to join.
Kela’s Rainbow Alliance
- provides peer support and a safe space for interaction for all LGBTQ+ employees at Kela
- promotes equity and contributes to the development of Kela’s work culture in cooperation with the employer
- distributes information on the rights of sexual and gender minorities in terms of working life and social security
- coordinates Kela’s participation in Pride events and contributes to their arrangements
- organises meet-ups for Alliance members, such as virtual coffee breaks and events outside working hours
- collaborates with the LGBTQ+ networks and communities of other organisations.
Kela’s Rainbow Alliance contributes to the development of a more inclusive working life where everyone can be who they are. The Rainbow Alliance is a consistently active network as we believe that small daily actions create big change.
